Education
Michael McDonald Cary earned his law degree from West Virginia University College of Law in 2011. In 2013, he became one of the youngest business owners in founding Cary Law Office PLLC located in Charleston, West Virginia.
Cary graduated from Capitol High School in 2003, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Charleston in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, History and a minor in Applied Leadership Studies. In 2007, Cary was named Top Graduate of his class and received the President’s Award for Outstanding Senior.
Thereafter, Cary moved to Denver, Colorado as he was the sole student in the State of West Virginia to be chosen to participate in the Counsel for Legal Education Opportunity in Denver, Colorado in 2007.
As previously stated, Cary obtained his law degree from West Virginia University College of Law in 2011, and was a member on the Mountain Honorary Society, and a Lugar Trial Court Invitational finalist.
Initially, Cary was an associate at Bowles Rice LLP, and part of the firm’s Education Law Group which served school boards, regional educational service agencies and multi-county vocational centers throughout West Virginia.
Currently, Michael M. Cary is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Cary Law Office PLLC located in Charleston, West Virginia and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Charleston Civic Center and West Virginia University’s Visiting Committee for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
Achievements
Michael was awarded as WV Executive Magazine's Young Guns in 2020 which, according to WV Executive, "honors the next generations leaders who are already accomplishing great things through their careers both in the business world and their communities."
Michael also serves as on the Board of Governors for the West Virginia State Bar and on the Board of Directors for the University of Charleston.
He was recently awarded "Top Ten Under 40" by the National Academy of Criminal Defense Attorneys and as an AVVO Client Choice Award Winner in 2019.
